Kunlun Fight

Kunlun Fight (Chinese: 昆仑决; pinyin: Kūnlún Jué) is a Chinese fight promotion and one of the biggest and most active kickboxing promotions in the world. Most Kunlun Fight events take place in China and feature mainly kickboxing. Mixed martial arts (MMA) and Muay Thai fights also take place at the events. Kunlun Fight Cage Fight Series matches are staged inside a cage and feature exlusively MMA fights. Kunlun Fight events are broadcast on tuesdays and sundays by Jiangsu TV in China.

History


Kunlun Fight was broadcast in China on Qinghai TV in 2014. From January 3, 2015 it started airing on Jiangsu TV.

2016


November 22, 2016 it was announced that Kunlun Fight Cage Fight Series was renamed to Kunlun Fight MMA and that the MMA cards would broadcast live in China on CCTV-5 each first thursday of the month in 2017.

Super Heavyweight Tournament


The 8-man tournament quarterfinals took place at Kunlun Fight 46 and 48. The semifinals and final were held on Kunlun Fight 52 and Andrei Gerasimchuk beat Tsotne Rogava in the final, becoming the 2016 Kunlun Fight Super Heavyweight Tournament Champion.

80kg Tournament


The first round of the 8-man tournament was scheduled for Kunlun Fight 50 in Changsha, China on August 14, 2016, but the event was canceled due to issues with the local partner. The tournament instead started the following week on August 20 in Jinan, China. After winning his quarterfinal bout, Marc de Bonte went missing in the Netherlands and was replaced by Moroccan Hicham El Gaoui. Another quarterfinal winner Murthel Groenhart was also replaced for the semifinals by Dutch Darryl Sichtman.
